2/24/2009 | | | The Sicilian sun "habla español" | The GA-Solar, a subsidiary of Spanish company Corporación Gestamp, on the tip of Sicily and it does so with a plan in large numbers. By 2012 investment will move higher 900milioni euros, with a calculable impact on employment in some 7mil
| Dozens of photovoltaic systems, for an installed capacity of 600 megawatts by 2020. E 'in large numbers on the plan drawn up for Sicily by AG-Solar, a Spanish company active for 4 years in the field of clean energy, controlled by Corporacion Gestamp, the largest holding in the Iberian area of machining, with a production-oriented especially to the automotive component and an annual turnover in excess of 5 billion euros.
Last Friday the Madrid summit of the Group met with the regional all'Industria Pippo Gianni to present the project and initiate contacts that could soon lead to an initial memorandum of understanding to establish, in accordance with the Plan's environmental and energy Region, approved by the junta government of February 3, guidelines of design for a massive power capable of turning sunlight into electricity. According to the advance of the company, this is the first commercial enterprise in the photovoltaic sector in Sicily based on a structured business plan. A bet that - says the manager to promote the project Sicily, Walter Zanella - move by 2012 investments of more than 900milioni euros, with a calculable impact on employment in some 7mila new jobs. "
The plane of the AG-Solar is divided in 5 areas of intervention, in which significant numbers in employment could be generated as early as within a single year. The first concerns the creation of a facility for manufacture of mechanical solar installations by the end of 2009 is expected to create 120 jobs, for a fee of EUR 17 million. Another objective is the installation, within the next 3 years, photovoltaic power plants throughout the Sicilian for a total capacity exceeding 300 megawatts: Operation that, again this year, according to the plan would cost around 4 million Euro 2400 and generate new jobs. These works will also add the building of a factory inverter, ie the electrical equipment that convert direct current produced by solar cells into alternating current: an investment for 2009 amounted to 6 million, which translates into at least 110 jobs.
But the plan of the AG-Solar goes even further: it provides for the creation of a school in the solar technology. This would be the first national center for training of technicians (installers and maintainers of solar) and adds Zanella, "welcome 200 students each year." The Spanish group aims to eventually build a unit on the operational control of plants for solar photovoltaics around the country. And predicted a technical staff that would be used amounts to about fifteen units (50 by 2012), for an initial investment of 4 million euros (which would rise to 12 million by 2012).
In these days the AG-Solar is preparing a draft Memorandum of Understanding to be submitted all'assessorato regional early March.
To date the Region has issued about 100 permits for the construction and operation of plants fueled by renewable sources. Twenty of these relate to wind turbines for a total capacity of 955.70 megawatts, 10 are from biomass-fired power plants (100 megawatts of power), while for the exploitation of solar energy have been approved photovoltaic systems for about 20 megawatts and thermodynamic solar plant of scientific value for 6 megawatts. Interest in solar power is rapidly increasing, however: in fact there are 866 applications for permits for a total investment of almost 18milioni euro. | |
